Education City Tram Doha: Catenary-Free Tram System for Campus Transport
RAILONE supplied the RHEDA CITY system for the 17 km Education City Tram in Doha between 2013 and 2015, supporting the implementation of a catenary-free tram system.
Commissioned by Qatar Foundation, the project aimed to create a catenary-free tram system for campus transport within Education City in Doha. The objective was to facilitate transit across the university campus. RAILONE manufactured and supplied a total of 16,959 RHEDA CITY sleepers.
The sleepers were manufactured at the plant in Saudi Arabia and transported more than 1,000 km by truck to Doha. The ballastless track system was installed along the entire route and meets the requirements for safe and high-performance Urban Transit. It is virtually maintenance-free, provides a high level of ride comfort, accommodates heavy loads and ensures a high level of safety.
