SCHWANDORF, GERMANY: INDUSTRY 4.0 IN TURNOUT SLEEPER PRODUCTION
From planning to construction: in October 2019, we inaugurated our first production facility based on an Industry 4.0 approach.
The plant was successfully completed within the planned two-year construction period, making it one of the most advanced turnout sleeper plants in the world. Located in Schwandorf, Bavaria, the facility features an automated carousel system with end-anchoring technology and a late-demoulding process, as well as robotic solutions. The site was chosen specifically to supply Deutsche Bahn’s rail networks in southern and south-eastern Germany.
The plant produces all types of turnout sleepers for both straight and curved track sections, in compliance with the highest quality standards.
PROJECT DETAILS:
The production facility covers an area of 16,000 m²
Two state-of-the-art articulated robots are integrated into the production process. One applies release agent to the moulds, while the other places the various required assembly components into them
The plant’s product portfolio includes various types of turnout sleepers for straight and curved track sections, specifically for the German market
