RASTATT TUNNEL, GERMANY
RHEDA 2000® and ROSS for Maximum Safety in the Rastatt Tunnel
Between 2023 and 2025, RAILONE supplied 18,000 RHEDA 2000® sleepers and 12,000 m of ROSS access slabs for the Rastatt Tunnel in Germany, which comprises two 5.4 km tunnel tubes.
he Rastatt Tunnel forms part of the upgraded Karlsruhe–Basel line and consists of two single-track tunnel tubes, each measuring 5.4 km in length. The project is an important section of the European north–south corridor and aims to increase capacity, reliability and noise protection.
For this project, RAILONE supplied 18,000 B 355 sleepers for the RHEDA 2000® system, manufactured at the Aschaffenburg plant. In addition, 12,000 m of the ROSS access system, the RAILONE Safety System, were supplied. The system provides emergency vehicles with access to the tunnel and meets the relevant fire safety requirements.
At the same time, the tunnel remains accessible during the construction phase. The ROSS access slabs are easy to install and reusable and can be combined with both RHEDA 2000® and GETRAC® A3.
