Located in south-eastern India near Chennai, the Rapur Tunnel is a single-track tunnel running through the Eastern Ghats. The project aims to significantly improve logistics for the Port of Krishnapatnam’s extensive freight operations. The new line reduces the transport distance by approximately 80 kilometres, generating estimated savings of around ten million euros per week for businesses and the government.

The project uses the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system, which offers a high degree of flexibility for applications in tunnels, on bridges, through turnouts and on embankments. Its cost-effective construction also allows locally available materials to be used.

The sleepers were manufactured at the PCM RAILONE Group’s production plant in Jalpaiguri. RAILONE engineers provided comprehensive support throughout the project, from the planning phase through to completion.
