Efficient Track Solutions for the Bybanen light rail system.

For the extension of the Bybanen light rail system in Bergen, RAILONE supplied more than 23,000 LIS track sleepers for ballasted track as well as sections of the RHEDA CITY ballastless track system by 2017.

Since April 2017, the Bybanen light rail system has connected Bergen city centre with Flesland Airport, strengthening Urban Transit in the Norwegian coastal city. LIS track sleepers for ballasted track were used along a large part of the route. They are specifically designed to meet the requirements of tram operations and are supplied with pre-assembled rail fastening systems.

This significantly speeds up installation on site. In areas with specific requirements, such as stops and the depot, the RHEDA CITY ballastless track system was used. The system is particularly suitable for urban applications, as it allows for different track coverings, including grass, paving and concrete surfaces.

The very short delivery window presented an additional challenge. Thanks to a coordinated logistics concept, the sleepers were transported from the Neumarkt plant to Bergen within a very short period of time using flat-rack containers, trucks and ferries.
