BERLIN CENTRAL STATION, GERMANY
Precision Bridge Movement Accommodation Solutions for Berlin Central Station.
Between 2017 and 2027, RAILONE developed, supplied and installed 36 bridge movement accommodation systems at Berlin Central Station.
As part of a replacement construction project, a total of 36 bridge movement accommodation systems (FÜK) were replaced at Berlin Central Station. The work became necessary due to significant damage to the existing structures, which were approximately 20 years old and, in some cases, no longer fulfilled their intended function. Bridge movement accommodation systems are essential in ballastless track to maintain precise track geometry despite thermal and structural movements of the bridge substructure and to accommodate high forces within the transition area.
RAILONE was initially responsible for developing, manufacturing and supplying pilot systems, which were monitored under operating conditions for two years. RAILONE subsequently assumed overall project management as the general contractor, as well as responsibility for manufacturing, logistics and installing all 36 systems. The scope also included pre-assembly, interim storage to ensure short installation times and the organization of complex transport logistics. A particular challenge was installing large volumes within short time windows while coordinating complex construction-site and logistics requirements.
