RHEDA 2000® Debuts in Serbia: Precision for the Stara Pazova–Novi Sad High-Speed Rail Tunnel
From early 2020 to the end of 2021, RAILONE supplied 4,000 specially shortened RHEDA 2000® bi-block sleepers for the 2.3 km tunnel between Stara Pazova and Novi Sad. The solution enables train speeds of up to 200 km/h while ensuring optimal drainage.
The tunnel forms part of the reconstruction, modernisation and expansion of the double-track railway line from Belgrade via Stara Pazova, Novi Sad and Subotica to the Hungarian border. Located on the section between Stara Pazova and Novi Sad, the tunnel is approximately 2.3 km long and designed for train speeds of up to 200 km/h.
To meet the customer’s specific drainage requirements, RAILONE manufactured specially shortened RHEDA 2000® bi-block sleepers. The transitions from ballasted track to the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system inside the tunnel also presented particular challenges. Safe and precise solutions are essential at these interfaces, especially at higher speeds. RAILONE’s engineering team reliably met these requirements.
Track construction work was carried out by RZD International from early 2020 until the end of 2021.
