LEHMSIEF, GERMANY
GETRAC® A3 for Challenging Ground Conditions
Between 2015 and 2016, the line in Lehmsief, Germany, was renewed using the GETRAC® A3 ballastless track system, designed for challenging ground conditions and particularly low construction heights.
In the Lehmsief area, the Stolberg–Herzogenrath line runs through marshy ground and beneath the Aachen–Cologne high-speed line. Space was particularly limited within the existing crossing structure, requiring a low-profile design. RAILONE was involved at an early stage of the planning process, and GETRAC® A3 was selected as the ideal solution.
The system enabled an exceptionally low construction height with an asphalt layer of just 85 mm, the first implementation of its kind in Germany, and was seamlessly integrated into the existing structure. The absence of internal grounding also facilitates future electrification. The system’s short lead time supported efficient project implementation.
