NUREMBERG–INGOLSTADT, GERMANY

RHEDA 2000® Ensured the On-Time Completion of the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt High-Speed Line for the 2006 FIFA World Cup

Between 2004 and 2006, RAILONE supplied the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system for the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt high-speed line in Germany, designed for speeds of up to 300 km/h.

RHEDA 2000® was used as the basis for ICE services operating at speeds of up to 300 km/h. The system replaces the conventional ballast bed with a monolithic concrete structure, providing particularly stable track geometry and outstanding ride comfort.

Approximately 120,000 special-purpose sleepers were manufactured for around 36 to 38 km of track and delivered to the construction site just in time. Production took place in Neumarkt and Coswig, while installation was carried out with millimetre precision. The system was used throughout all sections of the route and proved particularly effective in terms of smooth running, low maintenance requirements and long-term durability. The line entered service in time for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
