RAILONE to Build New Concrete Sleeper Plant in Nuremberg

RAILONE GmbH is continuing its growth trajectory and investing in the construction of a new, state-of-the-art concrete sleeper plant in the Nuremberg port area on Triester Straße.

A sleeper storage facility is already in operation on the site. With the new production facility, RAILONE is strengthening its position as one of the leading manufacturers of concrete sleepers for the national and international railway market.

The total area of the site – comprising the existing storage facility and the future plant premises – covers approximately 42,000 square metres. Planning for the new facility has already begun.

In the future, the new plant will manufacture up to 600,000 concrete sleepers per year for railway lines in Germany and international markets. The Nuremberg plant is being planned and designed as the most modern concrete sleeper plant within the PCM RAILONE Group. In addition to state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, particular emphasis will be placed on efficiency, quality, sustainability and future-oriented production processes.

With the commissioning of the new site, the existing plant in Neumarkt will be closed.

The Neumarkt plant was built as early as 1954, making it RAILONE’s oldest concrete sleeper plant. Its closure marks the end of a significant chapter in the company’s history – while the new plant in Nuremberg simultaneously marks the beginning of a new, future-oriented era.

With this investment, RAILONE is making a long-term commitment to Germany as a production location and creating the foundation for modern and efficient manufacturing in the growing European railway market.

Quote from Verena Zahradnik:

“The Neumarkt plant has represented RAILONE’s success story for decades and has played a major role in shaping our company. That makes it all the more important for us to set a new course with the new site in Nuremberg. With this investment, we are sending a clear signal about our long-term presence in the German market. Nuremberg will become a powerful, future-oriented site that ensures the reliable supply of prestressed concrete sleepers to DB AG as well as to our international customers.”
